Beloved Community of Family and Friend~
In 2004 I joined a small group of non-mexicans in a sea of 8000 proud Mexicans walking on my first group pilgrimage. Our small group in this spiritual sea was walking to raise consciousness about domestic violence and its affect on women and children. The pilgrimage is over three hundred years old and is respected and recognized by the Mexican government. I had the privilege and honor to walk 3 years in a row and I am ready to go again, this time to walk the full 9 days rather than 3.
It is my vision that raising the $2,000.00 necessary to make the journey will involve you. The monies will cover airfare, lodging, food, transportation and a $500.00 donation to C.A.S.A.’s program that specifically helps with domestic violence prevention and helps build a better, brighter world for survivors of domestic violence. C.A.S.A serves the good people of San Miguel de Allende and it’s surrounding villages in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Her good work reaches every state of the Mexican republic through radio broadcasts, traveling theatre, health outreach programs and a midwifery school that incorporates daughters of indigenous midwives from across the nation of Mexico. Since it’s birth in the early 1980’s C.A.S.A.’s goodness has reached millions of people.
In January 2012 some 12,000 pilgrims will leave from San Miguel de Allende on a pilgrimage to the shrine of San Juan de Los Lagos, carrying a miracle in their heart. It may be a miracle of gratitude or of great need, but every person walking will hold it dear as they walk the 9 days over mountain, valley and desert.
I want to walk with more than my miracle prayer in my heart. I want to walk with yours. For every person who makes a monetary contribution to help sponsor me on this great walk for and of humanity, I ask that you send me a note with your miracle gratitude or great need. If your chosen contribution is support by prayer and loving thoughts, send that in a note along with your prayer request. I want to carry everyone with me.
It has been a dream of mine that a group of women from MorningStar Community would make this pilgrimage together building community, building spirit, opening to our fullest potential and blessing the world as we walk.
This is the year. This is the walk. This is the miracle.
Thank you for every penny, every prayer, every moment of sharing your best through us to help create a one world family.
We’ll come home with story and greater love - our gift back to you.
Blessings,
I am by nature a story teller. Maybe all
women are. It is easier to hear Truth in
a story. It is easier to remember Truth
in a story. Following is an excerpt from
the upcoming book - The Power of Women.
Make a cup of tea and treat yourself to
listening to a wisdom that will lighten
the heart, enliven the bones and open your
own voice for story telling.
From the Introduction to Chapter One - Stories
of Power
You are a Strong Woman! I told her
as she wobbled faint of body and spirit. Look
at me and say, I am a Strong Woman!
I am a S · T · R ·
O · N · G woman, she responded deliberately
and slowly. The full moon made dappled light in
our little room in the woods.
MorningStar, if I am a S · T ·
R · O · N · G woman, why
dont I feel it?, she asked, tired
and sick and weak. Just then she pushed out her
largest baby girl and held her to her warm breast.
You were right! she exclaimed in power,
I am a Strong Woman!
Women birth everywhere in woods, in shacks,
in quaint homes and suburbs and palaces, under
trees, in taxis, and lately, in clinics and hospitals.
It is hard to birth in power without privacy and
love and a place called home. It is hard to birth
in power if youre scared or sick or tired.
It is hard for a midwife to help you if she is
far from help herself and especially if she doesnt
know how to make good word medicine.
The instinctual life will create word medicine,
even if you are on an island. Ive never
met a womyn who wouldnt get her baby out
if she were on an island. And I dont believe
she would flop on her back and put her feet in
the air. Though I imagine she might squat and
crawl and walk and pant and rest and hold on and
let go and weep and sing and call to the Gods,
and in the end, cry out in power
in great
triumph
in wet Bliss.
These stories are those kind of stories
Stories of power and triumph and bliss.
